Expertise – The Artist

We bring together diverse elements into a unified concept, taking the best from multiple disciplines. The Artist is the creative individual who has a sound understanding of web user-interfaces and web applications. He is well-versed in areas of usability, navigability, depth, breadth, and other UI requirements with regards to the user-interface design of a web application. He has excellent verbal and written communication skills, as the user-interface designer will be working closely with business and end-users on a regular basis. He also develops the user-interface guidelines, and is responsible for conveying them to the appropriate developers and other personnel.

The User Interface Architect is responsible for assisting in requirement elicitation by working closely with Business Analysts, System Analysts, and Users to develop user-interface prototypes for the System under Development (SuD). The user-interface architect does not implement the user interface. Instead, a user-interface designer focuses and devotes time only on the design and the "visual shaping" of the user interface, because: the skills required by a user-interface designer often need to be improved and optimized for the current project and application type, with potentially unique usability requirements, and this requires both time and focus, the risk of "mixed allegiances" must be delimited; that is, the user-interface designer needs to be influenced more by usability considerations than implementation considerations. The Artist has knowledge of at least one user-interface design tool, such as Visio or PowerPoint and is capable in a variety of tools.
